This is an exciting new program!  The goal is to bring additional business to places that allow well mannered Dog Scouts and their educated parents into their establishments.  Also, to reach more people to educate.  

As more people see the program's 2" x 3" stickers and learn about the Dog Scouts Welcome program...

• We hope they will be motivated to learn more about how to train their own dog (and themselves) to pass the Dog Scout test.  
• This means more dogs will have basic manners and obedience so they can be welcome members of society. 
• It also means dog owners will be learning about exceptional dog care and training to deal with any behavior issues that might arise (so they don't feel the need to turn their dog into a shelter for "behavior problems.") 
• This can reduce the number one reason dogs go into shelters where they are abandoned by the only family they have known and are likely to be killed because the lack of training causes them to be less likely to get adopted.

BUSINESSES:
If you have an establishment where you would like to be able to welcome well behaved dogs with responsible people handling the leash, register for this program!  You can increase the business to your store from Dog Scouts of America members and other dog lovers, even if they don't have their dog with them, simply for participating!  Our website gets thousands of hits per month, so you will get valuable free advertising too!

DOG OWNERS:
If you are interested in being a better informed and trained dog parent, read through the many helpful pages of this website (or at the very least, the pages below.)  Strive to pass the Dog Scout test with your dog!  More information on how to do that can be found by reading the information below and by clicking on "Certification Program" above the title of this page.

DOG SCOUT PARENTS:
If you have a certified Dog Scout (or will soon) we need YOU to help promote this program.  Read over and print the pages below (in color please) and take them to a business in your area.  You could even dress them up with a nice folder, but that's not required.  Talk to the business owner about the program and leave the pages for him or her to look over.  Let them know they will get a sample ID card and program information to post for the reference of employees and to verify proper Dog Scout identification. They will also get a small sticker to let patrons know they accept Dog Scouts.
